As a wedding and event planner, I always wait to see Pantone‘s fashion colour report. I know, you are probably asking yourself what does fashion have anything to do with home decor and wedding trends. It has EVERYTHING to do with it. If you’re like me (and the rest of the world), around this time of the year, the need of change is worst than a bad itch. I get that with brides all the time – ”Laurence, what are the wedding colour trends this year”? ”Did you see the Pantone colour report”? ”Do you think this colour fits our personality?”
Just like their homes, every bride (okay sure, and the grooms) want their wedding to reflect their personalities. This year, designers will be drawing inspiration from your personality. That’s the part I love the most when designing an event, I get to create and get inspired my two people that love each other.
That was the feeling I wanted to recreate when planning this bright and refreshing styled shoot. I was getting bored of the pastels. I wanted something bold and refreshing. You know, perfect for a Spring wedding.
Do you want to know where I got the inspiration for these colourful hues? I know you know it, Home Sense of course! We all know how much I love Home Sense. I usually get inspired or think of creative shoots when I walk in one of their stores. Believe it or not, I planned and styled this shoot early Fall 2016. Anyone would think, Halloween or Thanksgiving colours would be all over the place, but not my Home Sense. They are avant-gardist in their colour palettes and I love it.
I got my squad together and made this shoot happen. I was happy to found out that it got featured on Wedding Lovely’s blog once again. Looks like I’m not the only one that enjoys bold and bright colours.
These hues can be seen in the Pantone Fashion Colour Report as: Primrose Yellow and Niagara.
” From colors that are bright and vivid to those that convey a sense of earthiness, our top 10 colors for spring 2017 are reminiscent of the hues that surround us in nature. In conjunction with New York Fashion Week, the PANTONE Fashion Color Report provides a comprehensive overview of fashion designers’ use of color in their spring 2017 collections. Featuring the top 10 shades seen on the runway, the PANTONE Fashion Color Report is your essential color guide to the season.” (via Pantone)
“One of the things that we saw this year, was a renewed sense of imagination in which color was appearing in context that was different than the traditional,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Reminiscent of the hues that surround us in nature, our Spring 2017 Fashion Color Report evokes a spectrum of emotion and feeling. From the warmth of sunny days with PANTONE 13-0755 Primrose Yellow to the invigorating feeling of breathing fresh mountain air with PANTONE 18-0107 Kale and the desire to escape to pristine waters with PANTONE 14-4620 Island Paradise, designers applied color in playful, yet thoughtful and precise combinations to fully capture the promises, hope and transformation that we yearn for each Spring.” (via Pantone)
PANTONE 13-0755 Primrose Yellow
By contrast, Primrose Yellow sparkles with heat and vitality. Inviting us into its instant warmth, this joyful yellow shade takes us to a destination marked by enthusiasm, good cheer and sunny days.
PANTONE 17-4123 Niagara
Comfortable and dependable, Niagara leads the PANTONE Fashion Color Report as the most prevalent color for spring 2017. Niagara is a classic denim-like blue that speaks to our desire for ease and relaxation.
Feeling blue doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Right?
