All my single ladies, all my single ladies…
Now put your drink up! Yes, yes, yes. It’s that time of the year again. That time of the year when the whole world reminds you that you are single. I’ve been there, trust me. The only reason I love Valentine’s Day so much, is because I met my boyfriend the day after. Otherwise, I think Valentine’s Day can be cheesy. A few years back, a friend of mine had the fabulous idea of celebrating Valentine’s Day with all her gals. Then we found out that there is such a thing as Galentine’s Day.
Galentine’s Day Signature Cocktail
My idea of a perfect Galentine’s Day party consists of 3 things: My girlfriends, food and drinks! When you have a friend like Stephanie Bobey in your crew, you know the drink department is covered.
Stephanie Bobey is a mixologist and creative forewoman at the popular Marriott Delta Grand Okanagan restaurant Oak + Cru. Anyone that knows me, knows I love myself a nice drink. Usually, I stick to what I know and love, which is Grand Marnier. But when she’s around, I get all excited because I know she has a gift for creating drinks full of flavour and character.
You will see more of her recipes featured on my blog, but for now, let’s hook you up with a refreshing drink.
Strawberry Lemon Slush (Yields 2)
2oz Citrus Vodka
1oz Orange juice
0.75oz Maple Syrup
10 Frozen Strawberries
3-6 Basil leaves
Fruli Oasis (Yields 1)
2oz Fruli Strawberry Belgian White Beer
3oz Strawberry Citrus Basil Slush
1 Strawberry Half
1 Miniature Straw
Strawberry Lemon Slush
Combine all the ingredients and blend. Slush must have a thick consistency to allow strawberry to rest on top.
Chill Coupe Glass with ice and water.
Prepare Strawberry Citrus Basil Slush.
Dump out water and ice from chilled glass, and pour 2oz of Fruli into coupe. Then pour 3oz of slush into the middle of the glass. Garnish with Strawberry half (or basil leaf) on top of the slushy mountain.
The idea is for the slush to create a “mountain” in the middle of the strawberry beer. Garnish strawberry like a “cherry on top” or on the rim of glass.
And voilà! Your gals are going to love you even more than they already do with liquid dessert.
